BlackBlack is a another band from Alex Greenwald of Phantom Planet. He plays under the moniker Clark Schädelkopf with his girlfriend Diva Dompe and her sister Lola Dompe. Apparently "schädelkopf" means "skullhead" in German according to their Wikipedia entry; "schädel" means "skull" and "kopf" means "head". Try typing it as one word into an online translator (since I don't speak nor understand German), you won't get an exact match. I had to break the word down. They seem to only play on the West coast though, mainly in LA. But when they do, they play with funky costumes, like ones in the main photo on their message board.

They also appeared in a music video for "Don't Save Us From the Flames" by M83, which I vaguely remember watching on MTV2's Subterranean awhile ago.

It's about a tv.
Phantom Planet are working on a new album and the teasers they posted are sounding quite good. It's a much harder, darker sound and far from Is Missing and The Guest, but similar to their self-titled album and maybe also influenced a bit by Radiohead since they did cover their song "Just" with Mark Ronson for the tribute album Exit Music: Songs with Radio Heads. It's definitely different though, which is what the lead singer, Alex Greenwald, has been wanting to do with every record... grow/mature with every follow-up release.

Coconut Records is the new solo project from actor/musician Jason Schwartzman. He was in Rushmore with Bill Murray and more recently in Shopgirl with Steve Martin and Claire Danes. I'm really digging the new direction... although, the name? not so much. Also to note, he used to be in Phantom Planet.
Last Thursday marked the first official day of summer. The lyrics to this song mention rain during a summer day, which is exactly what we got here in NY for the start of summer. Apparently, this song was in Spiderman 3 (it's on the soundtrack), but I haven't seen that movie... due to poor reviews (from friends) and lack of desire to watch it.
